Abbreviations

🐙Darning Needle

🐙Mc: Magic Circle

🐙Rnd: Round

🐙Sc: Single Crochet

🐙Inc: Increase

🐙Blo: Back loop only

🐙Flo: Front loop only

🐙Sl st: slip stitch

🐙FO: Fasten Off–That just means to cut your yarn and secure it. ;)

🐙BO: Bobble Stich: Now this is a specific stitch and technique which has revolutionized the whole crochet world. So, I will try to simply explain it in the best way I can:

When it comes to the point of where you need to make a bobble, you are going to yarn over, and insert your hook into the indicated stitch. Yarn over again, and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two of the three loops you have on your hook. You are going to repeat this until you have 5 loops on your hook. Then yarn over and pull through all five loops on your hook.

For some projects, there will be 7 loops on your hook, or 4 or 6, but for this project in particular, we are going to be doing a 5 loop bobble stitch.

Instructions:

Rnd 1: 8 sc in mc (8)

Rnd 2: inc. *8 (16)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, 1 inc. *8 (24)

Rnd 4-6: sc *24 (24)

Rnd 7: 1 sc, dec*8 (16)

Rnd 8: Dec*8 (8)

Rnd 9: (make sure to mark the back loop of the first stitch of this rnd) Now we are going to do the tentacles: in the FLO (sl st in the 1st st. Ch. 3, BO in 3rd ch. Sl st in same stitch)*8 (8)

Add your safety eyes between rnds 5 and 6, 4 sts apart. Stuff.

Sl st in the first slip stitch you did in rnd 9, FO. In the back loops of the tentacle rnd, weave in and out to close your octopus. Hide your tail, and cut.
