So, last time we discussed the part where I made all the 35 granny squares. Now, we are wrapping the blanket up with sewing, weaving, and more crocheting! Let’s dive right in!

Thursday night, I sat on my bed, and sewed them all together while I watched a show. It was 10:20 at night, and I cut the last bit of yarn. I was done sewing them together, and I felt as if my thumb was going to literally fall off. I folded the completed squares and then I knew the next day, there would be a lot of weaving in.

So, then came Friday night, where I sat on the couch, because my bedroom was cold, weaving in the endless yarn tails from sewing continually. Soon, came the time where I had a big pile of yarn tails next to me, and I was done—and happy, because I was sick of sewing and weaving in by then.

But the blanket was not yet completed. I still wanted to do a border…but the thing is, I had no yarn except a size 7 jumbo yarn from Walmart. So, while it may look funky, I decided to try it. I used a 20 mm crochet hook and played the biggest game of yarn chicken ever.

“Just a couple of stitches left.” I thought as I could see the end of the skein. Slowly, I came to the last single crochet stitch, and—yes!—I had made it! My blanket was done. I quickly weaved in the ends, heart racing. The moment of truth. I admired the 35 granny square blanket and proudly smiled. All the work I had spent on this, 5 days, endless hours of crocheting in the morning, evening, and night, had paid off. Using all my skeins of yarn was worth it as I wrapped myself in the comfort of now my favorite blanket.

While the blanket took my sweat and blood, determination, and while it took neck pain, wrist pain, and hand cramping, I still enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoyed the endless double crochet clusters I was surprised I did not get sick of.

Thank you for going on this journey with me in the two blog posts I have about this blanket! And hopefully you will decide to make your own blanket. Just be careful, and space it out like I did not do 😊. Enjoy it—because in the end, you’ll love it!
